Hamburg man arrested for pouring diesel fuel on man

A Hamburg man faces charges after allegedly using racial slurs and spraying a man with diesel fuel.

John Moyer, 62, is in custody after an incident that allegedly occurred near Percival on Dec. 16.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said that Cleo Henry, 49, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, stopped at a Cubby’s gas station near the intersection of Iowa Highway 2 and Interstate 29.

Henry was parked at the diesel fuel pumps when Moyer approached him and began arguing with Henry.

Moyer allegedly used a racial slur at Henry, who is black, and then sprayed Henry with diesel fuel. before fleeing the scene.

An investigation led the sheriff’s office to Moyer. He was arrested on suspicion of assault causing bodily injury in violation of individual rights.

Moyer is free after posting a $2,000 cash-only bond.
